SMART-TD Currently Enrolled Members with Payroll Deduction

You’re currently enrolled in the Voluntary Long-Term Disability coverage through the Voluntary Income and Life Protection Plan. Now, there’s important updates that require your attention and action.

Monthly VILP payments will no longer be deducted from your paycheck. Going forward you must set up your Monthly VILP payments through secure ACH transfers from your personal bank account. This update offers greater privacy, more control over your payments, and—most importantly—helps ensure your coverage stays active, even if your working status with SMART-TD changes. This allows you to make the best financial decisions for your family, especially while waiting on decisions from FELA or Workman’s Compensation cases.

To get started, click on the enrollment link below and enter the following:

  • Enrollment ID code from the personalized email you received

OR

  • Last name
  • Zip code
  • Date of birth

Next, enter the email address on file with the SMART-TD Customer Service Center and choose a password to complete your registration with Union Hub.

  1. Review your current voluntary benefits — your existing elections will be displayed.
  2. If you do not wish to enroll in any new benefit options, simply follow the instructions to set up and authorize your ACH payment. This step is required to maintain your existing coverage going forward.
  3. If you would like to elect additional benefits, select any of the following options to add to your enrollment:
    – New Supplemental Gap Short-Term Income Replacement Plan
    – Voluntary Life Insurance
  4. After making your elections, authorize your updated ACH payment — this step is required to finalize your enrollment and maintain coverage.

Note: Completing your ACH setup is required to keep your VILP coverage active. If you do not complete this process, your current payroll deduction will be discontinued and your VLTD benefit coverage will terminate.
